As I edit images, I often find myself giggling, smiling, or remembering the fun we had during our session. Then there are times when I’m brought to tears and an image inspires me on an even deeper level. This was one of those images.
This little man may be just one year old, but he’s a big brother to his little heavenly sister. After 3 sessions together, I’m always so blessed by the way this family includes their daughter in a photograph in each session using her image and one of her toys from when she was in the hospital. When I first met them, they were pregnant with this little guy and a generous friend gifted them with a maternity session… That’s when I learned of their story about their daughter who had passed away from congenital heart defect a few weeks after her Birth Day. Their story hits so close to home, as our first born had passed away shortly after delivery…so I know the importance of remembering. As painful as it can be, it’s healing to remember and recognize that as short as their little lives may have been on this earth, they mattered and they made an impact and a difference in our worlds…in our hearts.
It’s the reason why I believe in having images of those first moments. Especially if you know those moments will be fleeting… I’m grateful for the few images that were taken of our son, Brandon. Those photographs have enabled us to share those moments with our children when questions and curiosities arise and gave me a treasure beyond words. It may sound odd, but I assure you that in time, those images have the ability to bring healing. It’s been my heart to help others in capturing those fleeting moments…to capture the love that’s poured out at first glance and the tiny fingers and toes we can’t wait to count. Those memories, although fleeting, should never be forgotten.
Thank you.

Thank you M Family for allowing me to share a piece of your story…you are beautiful people and amazing parents! Your daughter is in good company and in the best place possible. xx~Cat
